ケンタウルス座は面積順位9位という広大な南天の星座です。最も特筆すべきはリギル・ケンタウルス（α Cen）で、太陽系に最も近い恒星系（約4.37光年）であり、G型主系列星とK型主系列星の二重連星に、最近傍のプロキシマ・ケンタウリを加えた三重連星系の一部です。プロキシマ・ケンタウリには岩石質の系外惑星が確認されており、天文学者の注目を集めています。
ハダル（β Cen）は全天11番目に明るい星で、青白い輝きを放つB型巨星です。メンケント（θ Cen）は約59光年と比較的近距離にあるK型巨星で、オレンジ色の光が特徴的です。全体として青白い高温星が多く分布する壮麗な星座です。
Gravity Weaverでは10ステージを誇り、全星座中最多のステージ数を持ちます。
ケンタウルス座は南緯25度以南でほぼ全体が見渡せる南天の星座です。日本からは南の地平線付近にα・β・θ星程度しか見えませんが、オーストラリアやニュージーランドなど南半球では春から夏（10月〜1月）にかけて天高く昇り、全容を観望できます。
南半球でハダル（β Cen）とリギル・ケンタウルス（α Cen）は南十字座（クルックス）のすぐそばに並んで輝き、南十字座を指し示す「ポインターズ」として古くから航海者に親しまれてきました。この2星は視等級−0.01と0.61と非常に明るく、夜空でもひときわ目立ちます。
ギリシャ神話においてケンタウルス座は、上半身が人間・下半身が馬の種族ケンタウロスの中でも最も賢明とされるケイローンを表しています。ケイローンはゼウスの父クロノスの子とも伝えられ、他のケンタウロスとは異なる高貴な出自を持ちます。
彼はアキレウス、ヘラクレス、アスクレピオスなど多くの英雄たちの師として、医術・音楽・弓術・予言を教えました。特に医術の達人として知られ、アスクレピオス（医学の神）の師匠でもあります。不死の身でありながらヘラクレスの毒矢に誤って傷つけられ、その苦しみから不死を手放し、ゼウスによって星座に昇華されたと伝えられています。
南半球の先住民族にとってもこの星野は重要で、オーストラリア先住民のアボリジニは α・β Cen とその周辺を「鷹」や「エミュー」の一部として独自の星座体系に組み込んでいました。
リギル・ケンタウルス（α Cen） — 地球から約4.37光年、全天3位の明るさ（視等級−0.01）。G型主系列星 α Cen A と K型主系列星 α Cen B の二重連星で、太陽に非常によく似た恒星系です。最近傍のプロキシマ・ケンタウリ（約4.24光年）はこの連星から約0.2光年離れた赤色矮星で、ハビタブルゾーン内に岩石質惑星プロキシマ b が確認されています。
ハダル（β Cen） — 地球から約390光年。視等級0.61で全天11番目の明るさ。B1型の青色巨星で、実際には近距離の二重連星です。南十字座の直近に位置し、リギル・ケンタウルスとともに「ポインターズ」として南十字座の向きを示す指標星として知られています。
メンケント（θ Cen） — 地球から約59光年。K0型巨星でオレンジ色の輝きが特徴。比較的近距離にあるため、固有運動が大きい星のひとつです。
オメガ・ケンタウリ（ω Cen） — ケンタウルス座内に位置する全天最大・最重の球状星団。地球から約17,000光年、直径約150光年、星の数は約1,000万個と推定されます。肉眼でも星雲状に見えるほど明るく（視等級3.9）、天体望遠鏡で観察すると無数の星が密集した壮観な姿が見られます。かつては独立した矮小銀河の核であった可能性も議論されています。
ケンタウルス座はゲーム内で26番目、全星座中最多の10ステージを持つ長丁場。α（リギル・ケンタウルス）から広大な星座の各部を巡ります。
主役ギミックは Nebula + 板隕石 + Strong BH。10 ステージにわたって減速雲・板隕石・強重力 BH が様々なパターンで組み合わさり、3 種期の総合演習となるエリアです。
中盤以降は一発勝負の Slingshot よりも、複数の小さな Gravity Well で安全な経路を確保する方が安定。NO GRAV BH や BH SIZE 1/2 のアイテムを温存し、Strong BH が密集する高難度ステージで使うのが効率的です。
Centaurus is the 9th largest constellation in the sky, a sprawling figure of the southern heavens. Its most celebrated star, Rigil Kentaurus (α Cen), is part of the closest known star system to the Sun at just 4.37 light-years. It consists of a Sun-like G-type star paired with a K-type star, plus the red dwarf Proxima Centauri — making it a triple system. Proxima hosts confirmed rocky exoplanets, drawing intense interest from astronomers worldwide.
Hadar (β Cen) is the 11th brightest star in the entire sky, a brilliant blue-white giant. Menkent (θ Cen) is a relatively nearby K-type giant at about 59 light-years, notable for its warm orange color. The constellation as a whole is rich in hot, luminous blue-white stars.

Centaurus is best seen from latitudes south of 25°N. From Japan only the southernmost stars (α, β, θ) are visible near the horizon, but from the southern hemisphere — Australia, New Zealand, South Africa — the whole constellation rides high in the sky from spring through summer (October through January).
Hadar (β Cen) and Rigil Kentaurus (α Cen) shine brilliantly just east of the Southern Cross (Crux), forming the famous "Pointers" that indicate the direction of Crux. At magnitudes −0.01 and 0.61, they are two of the most dazzling stars in the night sky and have guided navigators in the southern hemisphere for centuries.
In Greek mythology, Centaurus represents Chiron, the wisest and most noble of the centaurs — creatures with a human torso and the body of a horse. Unlike the wild centaurs, Chiron was said to be the son of the Titan Cronus, giving him a divine lineage and a uniquely civilized nature.
Chiron served as tutor to many of Greece's greatest heroes, including Achilles, Heracles, and Asclepius, teaching them medicine, music, archery, and prophecy. He was especially renowned as a healer and was the mentor of Asclepius, the god of medicine himself. Immortal by birth, Chiron was accidentally wounded by one of Heracles's poisoned arrows; unable to die yet tormented by unending pain, he willingly surrendered his immortality and was placed among the stars by Zeus.
For indigenous peoples of the southern hemisphere, this star field held deep significance too. Aboriginal Australians incorporated α and β Cen into their own constellation systems, often as parts of figures such as eagles or elements of the Emu in the Sky.
Rigil Kentaurus (α Cen) — 4.37 light-years away, third brightest star in the sky (magnitude −0.01). α Cen A and B form a binary of a G-type and K-type main-sequence star remarkably similar to the Sun. Their companion Proxima Centauri at ~4.24 ly is the single nearest star to Earth; it hosts Proxima b, a rocky planet in the habitable zone.
Hadar (β Cen) — ~390 light-years distant, magnitude 0.61, 11th brightest star overall. A B1-type blue giant and actually a close binary itself. Together with Rigil Kentaurus it forms the Pointers, long used by navigators to locate the Southern Cross.
Menkent (θ Cen) — ~59 light-years, K0-type giant with a warm orange hue. Its proximity means it has a measurably large proper motion across the sky.
Omega Centauri (ω Cen) — The largest and most massive globular cluster in the Milky Way, lying about 17,000 light-years away within Centaurus. It spans roughly 150 light-years and contains an estimated 10 million stars. Visible to the naked eye as a fuzzy star (magnitude 3.9), through a telescope it reveals a breathtaking swarm of stars. It may be the remnant nucleus of a dwarf galaxy swallowed by the Milky Way.
Centaurus is the twenty-sixth constellation, holding the record for most stages — 10 in total. Starting from α (Rigil Kentaurus), the journey traverses the constellation's vast spread.
The signature combo is Nebula + Slab Meteor + Strong BH. Across 10 stages, the three hazards combine in every possible pattern, making this the comprehensive exam of the three-gimmick tier.
From the middle stages onward, several small Gravity Wells outperform a single bold Slingshot. Save your "NO GRAV BH" and "BH SIZE 1/2" items for the densest Strong BH stages.
