こと座の本体は、ベガから伸びる平行四辺形の4つの星で構成されています。面積では88星座中52番目と小さいですが、その明るさから都市部でも容易に見つけることができます。

The body of Lyra is a compact parallelogram of four stars extending from Vega. Ranked 52nd in area, it is one of the smaller constellations, yet its brilliance makes it easy to spot even from urban locations.
On summer evenings, look nearly overhead for a brilliant white star — that is Vega. Nearby, four fainter stars form a small parallelogram. Vega is the brightest of the three stars that make up the Summer Triangle (Vega, Deneb, and Altair).
